The Cayman Island Blue
This project helps to protect one of the world’s most endangered lizards. The population of blue iguanas is estimated at less than 100 animals, with the ultimate goal of achieving a wild population, in managed reserves, of 1000 individuals. The threats to the survival of this species really are severe, with habitat destruction, alien species introduction and non-native species predation all adding to species decline.
This project was started by the blue iguana recovery program and is also supported by the IRCF.
